Young executives exhibit a wealth of talent at NPA

Murray Scott receives his award from Graeme Russell.

Murray Scott from Picton Press in WA has been named Media Super Young Executive for 2016, beating finalists from NSW, Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania to receive the accolade at the National Print Awards in Melbourne.

Print has been Scott’s life since graduating from school. Having worked his way through the ranks, he has successfully managed a brand development and graphic and web design agency along with a digital print and mailing house. A qualified printer, Scott also holds a Bachelor of Commerce in accounting and entrepreneurship.

At Picton Press he is charged with the day-to-day operations of the company and is behind much of the strategic planning and investment decisions.

Judges were faced with the unenviable task of choosing the winner from an exceptionally talented group of finalists, who all demonstrated their passion for print and fervour to pursue their careers in the printing industry.

Joshua Dunford from NSW qualified as a graphic designer, graduating in 2012. After completing an internship at BJ Ball, he worked as graphic designer, prepress and print operator at an adverting agency.

He is currently employed at Digitalpress, one of Australia’s most reputable printing establishments, where he is a dynamic young designer and sales executive with a zest for learning and exploring all avenues of the print industry. His interests encompass graphic and web design, portal management, print innovation and most importantly their applications to service customers and bring print projects to fruition.

Outside of work he is a passionate musician/ singer songwriter and a competitive tennis player.

Queensland finalist Matthew Chadwick, who is employed at Express Print & Mail, was the winner of the 2015 QLD Pica Progressive Trophy and a University of Queensland graduate with a Commerce degree and honours in Law.

Chadwick started working part time for his family business whist he was studying and commenced full time in the printing industry in late 2011. He has used his training well and been instrumental in growing the business from a three person operation to currently employing just under 30 staff. He has ensured the business has solid foundations, keeping debt low, and is tireless in ensuring the business continues to grow and prosper.

Whilst not at work, he can be found on the rugby union field or patrolling the beaches at his local surf club.

Daniel Jones graduated with a Bachelor of Computer Science / Software Development at Deakin University in 2006. He commenced work at BJ Ball’s Victorian office in 2012 where he is employed as systems administrator and IT project manager. His main focus and professional interest is to enhance his customers’ experiences and to bring new and innovative technology and ideas to the business.

Jones was born and raised in Melbourne and has a keen interest in various sports including football, basketball and keeping fit at the gym. He also has a passion for building computers and playing video games but more than anything he enjoys spending time with his 18-month old son, Brady.

Tasmanian Matthew Lowe completed his printing apprenticeship in 2003 and joined the Flying Colours team in 2004. Between 2004 and 2009 he was promoted to the roles of foreman, production manager and estimator, moving into account management in 2011. He was invited to join the Flying Colours Board later that year.

Career highlights include multiple printing awards, notably the Heidelberg Platinum Award in 2006 and the Tasmanian Diemen – Media Super Young Executive of the Year in 2015.
