Information Collected From All Visitors

While you are browsing the PrintersPost.com.au Web site, anonymous information will be gathered in log files, containing information such as which pages are requested. We use this information to administer our site and learn, for example, which areas of our site are the most popular and which may be having performance problems.

Information Collected From Registered Users

You only need to register with PrintersPost.com.au if you want to place an ad. You do not need to register to view ads or contact those who have placed ads.

When you register with PrintersPost.com.au, we collect personal information from you including your user name, full name, email address, telephone number, address, company name (if you have one), telephone number and credit card account details. You can view and change the information we hold about you any time in the My Printers Post section of the site.

  • Your user name is the name displayed on your ads, rather than your full name.
  • Your full name is kept for our records and credit card processing but is not given out to visitors.
  • Your email address is used so visitors to the site can mail you regarding the ad you have placed (although your email address is not actually made available other users), to confirm ads that have been placed, and to allow you to change your password. We may also use your email address to inform you of important changes (such as changes to terms of service). We do not use your email address for general marketing purposes. There are opt-in mailing lists for these purposes available in the My Printers Post pages under the section Email Lists.
  • If you provide one, your company name will be displayed on your ads.
  • Your full address is kept for our records. Only the area, state/territory and country will be displayed to visitors (not your street address).
  • Your telephone number is given out to anyone viewing your ad so that they can contact you.
  • Your credit card account details are kept in our system so that you can run an account with PrintersPost.com.au, this saves you from having to enter these details each time you want to place or re-run an ad. (At your request, these details can be removed from our system, see the PrintersPost Accounts section below for more information)

This information is collected on Web pages using encryption technology to help prevent any third party from intercepting the information.

We also keep a record of the ads that you have placed on the site.

Printers Post Accounts

A PrintersPost account allows you to run multiple ads without having to enter your credit card details each time you post an ad, and allows you to keep track of what you have spent with us through the View My Bill option on the My Printers Post page. Accounts that are not paid within the month will automatically be charged using these details. Users who do not pay accounts may be removed from the system, and steps taken to recover owed moneys.

If you would rather we did not retain account details after placing an ad, simply settle your account, then email info [at] printerspost.com.au, and we will remove your details from the system. (When your account is removed you cannot edit your ads or view account information on the My Printers Post pages as the account no longer exists.)

We may use your address or email address to send you important information about PrintersPost.com.au (such as changes to terms of service). We will not, however, use your details for marketing purposes. There are specific opt in email lists for users who want to be made aware of site news and special offers. You are given the option to sign up to be a member of these lists when you register, and you can change your subscription at any time from the My Printers Post pages.

Be assured that we will not share your personal information with other companies except those who are involved with fulfilling your account.

Cookies for Registered Users When they Login

Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. The cookie information cannot be read by, and is not shared with, any other web site.

When registered users log into PrintersPost.com.au we use a cookie, called XC, to uniquely identify you and hold your email address. We use this cookie to allow you to post, edit or close ads when you are logged in for that account. This cookie will cease to identify you to us when you choose to log out or once you have closed your browser window.

We also have a second cookie called XCUserName as a security measure when you change your user name or password, preventing you from logging in with your old username or password.

Most eCommerce web sites use cookies for similar purposes and most web browsers automatically accept cookies, although you can choose to disable this feature. PrintersPost.com.au requires that you log in every time you visit the site rather than using cookies to identify you immediately on arrival at the site to prevent risks arising either from someone using your computer without your permission or from placing ads on a computer that other people may use.

Once you have logged in using the new password that we send you, you can change it to something more memorable using the Change My Password option on the My Printers Post page. The new password will only be sent to the email address used when the account was created.
