Epson Australia has launched its new SL-D700 Dry Film Mini Lab specifically designed for retail, event and professional photo production. The latest addition to the SureLab range, which includes the highly-acclaimed SL-D3000, offers many of the same features but in a new versatile, cost-effective and easy to operate desktop format.

The SL-D700 has been designed for commercial photo and photo merchandise production and can be used for the production of quality photo prints as well as passport and ID images, photo albums, greeting cards, calendars, menus, fliers and awards.

The SL-D700 Epson also sets a new entry price for commercial photo printing with an entry-level system costing $A4,395 including GST. In addition to the lower price the SL-D700 uses inexpensive consumables and boasts an extremely compact design with low power consumption.

The SL-D700 ships with both Windows and Macintosh drivers enabling operators to print directly from common photo applications including Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom and Darkroom. Epson also offers optional Order Control software with integrated image adjustment tools, job costing and batch management facilities (Windows only).

The SL-D700 produces prints from 102 x 89mm to 210 x 1000mm on a choice of gloss, lustre and matte media with or without borders. In normal production mode the SL-D700 produces up to 360 152mm x 102mm prints per hour. The SL-D700 also features a high speed mode which produces up to 430 152mm x 102mm prints per hour, and a high quality mode.

Continuing the theme of flexibility the SL-D700 is suited to a wide range of applications including consumer, event and show imaging, family, corporate and talent portraiture, wedding, school, art and speciality photography. The desktop model is quick to start and features auto power saving with rapid resume saving time and energy.

The SL-D700 uses advanced Epson UltraChrome D6-S Dye Ink and a precision MicroPiezo TFP self-cleaning print head with Variable Sized Droplet Technology (VSDT) to produce prints with a high colour range, high contrast and no grain. The SL-D700 also incorporates a media output heater that enables prints to exit dry with a durable and high quality finish and incorporates auto nozzle checking and integrated paper dust removal to ensure easy maintenance.

Convenience and ease of use have been well thought out on the SL-D700 with all consumables front loaded and the incorporation of a front mounted waste paper bin. The SL-D700 also accepts 65 metre paper rolls that are spindle loaded to enable rapid exchange and utilises a high speed USB2.0 interface, flexible drivers, integrated colour management, error reporting and on-screen help and maintenance guidance.

Typically for Epson professional products the SL-D700 comes with a ‘heads-n-all’ warranty with a choice of one or three years cover. Free on-site service is provided for SL-D700s located in Australian or New Zealand metropolitan areas.

The SL-D700 is now available in Australia and New Zealand and can be ordered as a base printer with an ink set or with a complete Photo Pack that includes an output tray, five rolls of media, a media storage bin, spare spindle and Order Control Software.
