Canon’s new ONYX V12 release lifts productivity

ONYX 12 offers faster RIP performance

Sign and graphic businesses which invest in the Canon range of wide format print technology will benefit from the new, next-generation ONYX12 software, allowing them to ‘do more in less time’.

The new software version, built on the proven performance of ONYX 11, makes printing more predictable and offers faster RIP performance, a simplified user interface and advanced finishing tools for easier and faster production. It will be available across the entire ONYX product line from Thrive workflow, ProductionHouse and PosterShop to RIPCenter RIP software.

The new version’s enhanced performance features and updated RIP engines mean files which took a full minute to RIP on previous versions can now be processed in something like 15 seconds.

“In today’s competitive environment, business profitability in the sign and display market is inextricably linked to the optimisation of the entire, end-to-end workflow, and ONYX 12 can make a real contribution in this area by lifting productivity significantly,” said Thomas Mckerrow, product manager for Canon Professional Print.

“The new version features a more intuitive graphical interface, which can be customised to suit the needs of individual operations, meeting user expectations for simpler, more responsive operation. Jobs are easy to find, manage and edit, while live previews improve print predictability by allowing users to see exactly what is happening on each job in real time, eliminating guesswork and reducing the opportunity for error.”

Quick Set production templates are fast and easy to create, save and share on the new system, while new page and offset controls make it easy to place images for roll-to-roll or flatbed applications.

“Other new features further increase flexibility and eliminate time consuming tasks – for instance, a new bleed function means users can add borders for wrapped canvas prints, pole pocket trips for banners, or top or bottom extensions for pop-up stands, Automatic Cut Path Generation eliminates white space in print-and-cut jobs and new finishing tools enable automatic grommet and mark placements for finishing – all without the need to change original artwork,” Mckerrow added.

The new version is now standard on all wide format printers ordered from Canon. If you are interested in learning more about the update, view the ONYX 12 promotional video, email Professional.Print@canon.com.au or contact your local Canon account manager.
