Horizon unveils new finishing capabilities in world premiere

The all-in-one Horizon SmartSlitter sheet processor

The new Horizon SmartSlitter, an all-in-one smart sheet processing system that can slit, gutter cut, edge trim, cross-cut, perforate, and crease all in one pass, will have its first ever showing at Graph Expo 2015.

Perforation and creasing can be performed in both horizontal and vertical directions in the same pass. Skip perforation is also available for producing T-perfs and L-perfs which are ideal for coupon and ticket applications as well as business reply cards. The system can deliver multiple up greeting cards with or without creasing, table tents, invitations, and much more with both matrix and rotary creasing.

For applications such as accordion folded pieces or perfect bound books, up and down creasing can also be performed in one pass. Standard size business cards can be printed 21-up on a sheet and processed to a receding stacker for easy handling. Designed for both offset and digitally printed output, the system comes equipped with print mark registration to accommodate image shift in both directions.

In legendary Horizon style, the colour touch screen monitor features a simple user interface for easy operation including job setup via barcode. The system accepts sheets up to 370  x 670mm  and can deliver finished sheets just under 51 x 51mm. At the show, the Horizon SmartSlitter will be producing coupons with multiple perforations, direct mail pieces, business cards, card decks, and photo books for perfect binding.

Also in the cutting arena, Horizon’s RD-4055 rotary die cutter – a Graph Expo 2014 Must See ‘Ems award winner – is still turning heads while churning out a variety of unique applications including door hangers, table tents, CD holders, pop-up business cards, stickers, labels, and specialty packaging.

The system can die-cut, kiss-cut, crease, perforate, slit, hole punch, and round corner in one process for digital and offset printed sheets, and can achieve up to 6,000 cycles / hour on sheet sizes upto 400  x 550mm. A repeat register function allows multiple-up applications from a single-up die to minimise costs. Two models are available for varying speed, paper size, and stock requirements. Creasing is also available for applications that require additional folding after die-cutting, such as boxes, pocket folders, and greeting cards.

In Australia the Currie Group is the distributor for Horizon print finishing products.
