Canon opens high performance workplace in Brisbane

Canon's new high performance Brisbane headquarters

Canon has opened the doors of its new Brisbane headquarters designed to recognise the role a high performance workplace plays in inspiring greater idea generation, innovation, engagement and improved business results through enhanced job satisfaction.

At the launch event on July 2, Canon Oceania’s new managing director Yusuke Mizoguchi commented: “Canon’s new workplace in Brisbane comes as of a result of the tremendous success that we’ve seen from our first high performance workplace in Macquarie Park, Sydney since opening our doors just over 12 months ago.

“The trend of flexible, remote and agile working is vastly being adopted in Australia as businesses realise that technology has the power to enable their workers to do their jobs from wherever they want at a time that suits them.

“At Canon, we believe that while workplace habits and behaviours are slower to change, technology is not. We pledge to always be one step ahead and empower our employees with the technology solutions and culture they need to collaborate, innovate, and grow.

“Canon’s investment in the new Brisbane premises clearly shows our commitment to the Queensland market, and of course to our broad range of Queensland based customers.”

Effie Fox, HR and communications director, highlights how Canon’s new Queensland HQ reflects the workplace of the future.

“At Canon, instead of a one-size-fits-all approach, we strongly believe in the power of creating a dynamic environment that suits the way in which our employees work. The goal of our high performance workplace is to increase employee engagement and productivity, as well as inspiring creativity and collaboration amongst employees.”

“The new high performance workplace was designed following extensive research. Our employees played an important role in the co-design of the office environment – choosing styles of work that best suit their personal working styles.

“The creation of collaboration zones has the power to lead to greater innovation and creativity, with spontaneous brainstorming – driving innovative thinking throughout the business. The new space also allows employees to have ‘coincidental’ meetings as a result of bumping into colleagues, allowing them to resolve issues in real time which is incredibly valuable.”

“By creating a new way of work, our employees are more productive, allowing them to spend more time on what they do best. At Canon we believe in inspiring both our employees and customers to achieve more, and we look forward to seeing even bigger and better ideas come to fruition thanks to our new high performance workplace. It’s an exciting time for Canon, and our customers.”
