Spicers PrintEx15 display is a cut above the rest

Kiss-cutting with Elitron's Kombo SD

Italy – the land of good food, great wine, fine art and even finer artisans. It’s also the home of Elitron, the handcrafted wonder cutting machine that Spicers will be showcasing at this year’s PrintEx15.

Based in picturesque Monte Urano, the village is better known as the shoe capital of Italy, peddling out beautiful, designer footwear for the runways of Milan. The initial Elitron machine itself was first designed as a shoe leather cutting machine, and indeed, their ingenious software packages and superb cutting systems meet the needs of customers in industries as varied as footwear and leather goods, furniture and upholstery, visual communication, packaging and general industry.

Spicers, however, is pleased to present these impressive machines to the sign and display industry.

“The Elitron heritage combined with premium craftsmanship has made a family of great machinery,” comments Jason Hay. “Imagine you have to cut expensive leather for a high-end shoe producer. It’s not cardboard – waste is expensive and accuracy would be paramount. So Elitron have designed machines that minimize errors and waste and maximize output and productivity. The results are truly remarkable.”

Spicers' offering to customers includes the Kombo SD range, the Kombo TH, and the Kombo TAV. The systems can be equipped with the exclusive Elitron-patented Seeker System, the intelligent digital eye for the automatic recognition of images and reference points, and the Video Projection feature, to ensure the best possible material yield.

“Airo Panel is also something I think printers and finishers would find advantageous for their business. It’s a powerful vacuum panel that assists with automatic unloading of materials, removing all worked and waste materials, without any scraps being left behind,” adds Hay. “As Elitron founder Giuseppe Gallucci states ‘If you can imagine it, you can create it.’ This is the philosophy behind these machines and it marries well with Spicers own slogan,‘Ideas to life.’”

As if it couldn’t get any better, the machines are incredibly fast. As Frank Mezo from Mezographic in Melbourne would attest to, having had his Kombo SD+ installed early this year.

“We are extremely happy with the Elitron, no question about it,” comments Frank Mezo. “The Kombo SD+ is a true industrial piece of machinery. I first saw this machine at Fespa in London and it’s definitely the fastest cutter I’ve ever seen. We’re really looking forward to receiving the Kombo TH, Elitron’s dual gantry cutter, in June. There’s just no other cutter like it.”

With over 30 years in the business, Elitron’s expertise coupled with artisan tradition makes their cutting system a must-see at the show. See this tribute to authentic Italian craftsmanship for yourself at Spicers Stand 1515 at PrintEx15.
