Fujifilm appoints workflow ace Richard Ramirez

Richard Ramirez, now with Fujifilm

Recognised as one of the region’s foremost prepress workflow experts, Richard Ramirez has joined Fujifilm Australia. His experience parallels the development of modern CtP and associated workflows over an 18-year period.

Beginning with Scitex Corporation in the USA, Ramirez was heavily involved in the development, training and marketing of Brisque to Lotem workflows. When Creo and Scitex merged to become CreoScitex he made his first visit to Australia to help set up the local demonstration and support facilities as applications and technical sales specialist.

Commencing an eventual nine-year tenure with Kodak, Ramirez moved permanently to Australia where he was involved in workflow solutions for enterprise and commercial printers large and small. These solutions included integration of various management information systems – pioneering the ‘holistic’ approach to prepress workflows and connectivity to a wide range of output devices.

Ramirez is highly technical and proficient in various computer operating systems, internet languages, virtualization, storage and network topologies. He combines this with team leadership skills and commercial acumen from tertiary courses in economic principals and product marketing.

Fujifilm’s Graphic Systems general manager Lindsay Barnes says: “Richard’s appointment comes at a time when we are soon to launch an exciting new architecture with our XMF workflow. Previewed at the recent GraphExpo in Chicago, XMF version 6.1 promises to be the workflow that everyone’s been waiting for: versatile, fast, intuitive, cross-platform, HTML5-linked and easy to implement. I am delighted to welcome such an experienced workflow professional as Richard Ramirez to our team.”

Ramirez will be based at Fujifilm’s headquarters in Sydney but with national responsibilities. He comments: “It’s refreshing to be joining a new company with a new team and new vision. It’s just the beginning and I’m very excited about the impact that Fujifilm’s XMF 6.1 workflow will have in the market – both offset and digital, or a combination of both.”

Ramirez lives on Sydney’s North Shore where he enjoys home DIY projects with wife Michelle and their canine companion Bailey.
