Epson SureLab D700 photo printer

The Digital Playground promotes technology and digital lifestyle products in the world of photo imaging and at this year’s expo Epson will be launching its new SureLab D700 photo printer, a mini desktop version of the highly acclaimed SureLab D3000. Sitting alongside the SureLab D700 will be Epson’s Print & Share Kiosk, its StylusPhoto R3000, Stylus Pro 3880 and Stylus Pro 7900 printers.

The SureLab D700 presents an incredibly powerful desktop photo printer to the commercial world. Simple to operate with a compact, lightweight design, the SureLab D700 has been specifically designed for commercial photo and photo merchandise production. Much like its big brother the SureLab D3000, the SL-D700 produces high quality consumer, business and professional photo prints, along with ID and passport photos, menus, awards, cards and fliers.

The new SL-D700 has been manufactured to easily provide print durable colour and black and white images on gloss, lustre and matte media and can produce prints sized from 102mm x 89mm to 210mm x 1000mm. The SL-D700 is no slouch either and is capable of producing up to 360 6" x 4" production quality photos per hour. Users are able to print direct from common photo applications or via the optional Epson Order Control software that has integrated job costing, scheduling, image editing and colour control.

The Epson Stylus Photo R3000, known for its professional features including high-capacity cartridges, networking and wireless connectivity and advanced media handling, is raising the bar in A3+professional photographic printing. Using the Epson UltraChrome K3 with Vivid Magenta pigment ink, combined with Epson's innovative MicroPiezo print, enables the R3000 to produce gallery-quality black-and-white output, plus vivid colour prints with breathtaking blues and violets.

The Stylus Pro 3880 provides a cos-teffective and flexible solution for printing quality colour and premium black-and-white images in a wide format. It also produces durable, ultra-high resolution output with superior half tones with optimised ink density and good image stability. The Stylus Pro 3880 can also print an A4 page in as little as 18 seconds, supports bordered, edge-to-edge and borderless printing and incorporates an auto sheet feeder and a straight through paper path for heavy board.

Completing Epson’s printer ensemble at The Digital Playground is the 24” (610mm) large format Stylus Pro SP-7900 aimed at the producers of professional photography, gallery quality artwork and colour accurate proofs. The Stylus Pro SP-7900 supports a wide range of roll and sheet media. It uses Epson UltraChrome HDR all-pigment aqueous ink with an 11 cartridge configuration for premium colour and black-and-white output that is consistent, predictable and durable. An optional SpectroProofer is available with the SP-7900 for precision colour management and ISO standard proofing work.

Alongside all the printers will be the Epson Perfection V700 Photo scanner. Tailored specifically to meet the high level requirements of scanning professionals, the Epson Perfection V700 Photo incorporates new and refined technologies that work in tandem to provide a fast, total scanning solution with quality rivalling many drum scanners. Along with the high speed moving carriage-type TPU (Transparency Unit), the Perfection V700 Photo features the ability to connect to the PC or Macintosh using either USB 1.1, USB 2.0 or high speed Firewire interfaces.

Adding further to the enhanced speed capabilities of the Perfection V700 Photo is a dedicated high-speed ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) hyper processor. In addition to its high speed scanning capability the Epson Perfection V700 Photo also boasts powerful software tools, versatile paper handling, crisp definition and an advanced dual lens system incorporating two separate lenses, each designed to optimise the scanning results in specific modes.

Also at this year’s Digital Playground is the Epson Print & Share Kiosk housing four Expression Photo XP-950 Occasional A3 multi-function premium photo printers where attendees are invited to print and bring their photos to life free of charge. The kiosk will be open for all to print 6” x 4” high definition photos instantly in order to demonstrate Epson’s new benchmarks in high quality colour and black-and-white printing.

Finally at The Digital Playground Epson, in addition to being sponsors of the speaker program theatre, will be exhibiting two galleries that include the winning images from the Epson AIPP State Photographers of the Year 2014 and Epson International Pano Award 2014 competitions.
