In March five Women in Print breakfast events were held around Australia attracting more than 380 participants representing a cross-section of women employed in the print and graphic media industry.

Now in its eighth year Women in Print continues to present relevant and topical speakers in a lively participatory forum. “These women-only events offer a unique opportunity for the exchange of ideas, and are a great way for women to network and make new connections,” said Diandra Gavillucci, who co-ordinates Women in Print on behalf of Heidelberg which established the series in 2007.

Women in Print breakfasts were held in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane over a one-week period with the keynote speaker Sally Cockburn, better known as Dr. Feelgood.

“Sally shared her journey from general medical practitioner to media commentator, a fascinating story that was essentially about recognising opportunities and knowing when to act,” Gavillucci said. “Sally was an inspirational speaker and many of the women who attended commented on her sage advice, and also her wit; there was lots of laughter. It was a very entertaining presentation that also made people think about making changes to their lives for better health and greater balance.”

Gavillucci said that Women in Print actively seeks feedback from attendees and the general consensus from all five events confirmed that Women in Print was valued and highly anticipated.

“This year we saw a slight increase in numbers also which was very positive. We are using all avenues available to promote the event to the widest number of women working in our industry. Facebook has been a terrific forum for sharing information and also creating excitement in the lead up to the events.”

In conclusion she said, “The word ‘fabulous’ appeared repeatedly on the feedback forms this year and many congratulated the team on putting together another wonderful event. Women in Print comes together because of the commitment of our sponsors and the state patrons who give their time freely and it is gratifying to see so many women in the industry support our efforts.”
