Global recognition for Panprint

Auckland firm Panprint’s wine labels Totara Sauvignon Blanc 2010 and Full Circle Sauvignon Blanc 2010 recently won awards in the Class 11 (Offset Line Screen) and Class 10 (Offset Line) categories at the World Label Awards.

Panprint general manager John Lowther expressed pride his team had been acknowledged by the global awards, which are contested in 27 categories by printers from the United States, Japan, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and India, and require entries to have first won a national award.

“These awards are a recognition of all the hard work our staff put in,” he said.“It is a testament to the staff’s belief in the company that they have consistently produced a high standard of work over the years that has won several awards.”

With a customer base including some of New Zealand’s best known and respected companies such as Pernod Ricard (Brancott Estate, Stoneleigh), Mudhouse Wines, Mt Riley, Marisco Vineyards and Endeavour Vineyards, Panprint has established a niche within the wine, food and pharmaceutical industries.

Blue Star New Zealand chief executive David Jupe described the achievement of his organisation’s subsidiary as “historic”. “The awards prove again why it is one of our most awarded print companies, while the move to a new high-quality leading-edge printing facility will bring even greater achievements for it.”

Employing 27 full-time staff, Panprint recently relocated from the Panmure premises it had been operating from for the past 54 years to a new facility in Mount Wellington. This site is being championed as the “most modern label printing facility in New Zealand”.

“Management and staff are excited to be moving to the premises where they can use the latest printing technology,” added Lowther. “In addition, the company will make significant cost savings through more efficient production flow, lighting and air conditioning.”

The two Panprint wine labels had previously earned recognition in New Zealand’s Pride In Print Awards, where it has won more than any other printing company, entailing 62 golds and 132 highly commendeds, three Supreme Award finalist nominations and once Supreme Award win.
