Zebra Technologies unveils multi-language mobile printer

Zebra Technologies has released the QLn220 mobile printer, a new addition to its QLn mobile printer family unveiled in June 2011. With the industry’s broadest portfolio of printing products, Zebra’s new offering prints 2-inch labels to meet specific market and application needs where a smaller format is preferred – from mobile healthcare applications such as bedside specimen labeling and medication administration to retail applications such as shelf-edge, price and return labeling.

The entire QLn product line will soon offer three enhanced features to provide increased efficiencies and better serve multi-national customers, including:

·        Zebra Global Printing Solution, which makes the QLn mobile printers the first to offer right-to-left printing capabilities, is a complete, multi-language, global printing software that is Unicode-compliant and gives businesses greater print options to meet a wider range of native language preferences.

·        Zebra Basic Interpreter, a powerful programming language, allows the QLn products to support standalone applications and connect to peripheral devices, providing more flexibility and supporting customers’ growing business and operational requirements.

·        Zebra Programming Language (ZPL) brings Zebra’s best-selling mobile printer family up-to-date with tabletop printer code bases, offering users the option to upgrade remotely to future ZPL versions and easily integrate the printer with existing applications, saving time and money.

“With these innovative new features, the QLn mobile printers offer businesses a unified solution to address the diverse needs of an increasingly global customer base, particularly in Asia, where up to 59% of the world’s population and 33% of the world’s languages reside,” said Andrew Tay, president of Zebra Technologies Asia Pacific. “At the same time, the QLn’s improved manageability and higher battery capacity enhance the competitiveness of the retail and healthcare sector, where accuracy and productivity in applications such as shelf edge, mark down and price labeling and tagging as well as bedside specimen and pharmacy labeling are crucial, especially for large scale, global deployment.”

The QLn family offers the industry’s first Ethernet connection while docked into the new single- or quad-cradle accessory, providing the ability to remotely manage the printer and related issues and delivering a greater return-on-investment. It also includes a larger, easier to read display, giving users greater control and enabling faster operation.

“We will continue to provide the most innovative features necessary to meet the changing needs of our customer base. An example of this is offering QLn with new wireless radio technology 802.11n later in 2012. This will increase overall efficiency and productivity for our customers,” added Tay.
